Osa'Kal
Race: Redguard
Gender: Female
Age: 23

Bio:
Her birth-parents are a mystery, as she was orphaned at a young age. The only parent she ever knew was Lurmarz, an old Orc who had been deposed of his position as Chief of the Stronghold he'd led during his youth. Instead of dying an honourable death, he'd chosen the cowards path and run away, becoming an outcast among his people.

During his travels he came across a burned out farm and decided to loot it. Instead of sellables he found a small cellar that served as a nursery. Taking the child that still lived, he raised her according to what little he knew of the Redguard races. Because she never knew her lineage or ancestors, she instead treats Lurmarz as the ultimate authority figure and took to heart all his lessons.

She was schooled in the ways of battle and black smithing, soon surpassing Lurmarz in the latter. Her warrior skills were still not quite good enough to defeat her foster-father, but she continued to hone them as best as she could. On her 17th birthday he gifted her with a warhammer he'd found while clearing a mine of bandits, and she has come to prefer it as her weapon of choice.

The odd family travelled around Cyrodil before they found trouble in the form of a relentless group of Redguards who attempted to kidnap Osa'Kal. After growing tired of having to escape time and time again, both made the decision to leave Cyrodil behind and head to Skyrim in the hopes of shaking their persistent followers. Sadly, they did not have enough funds for more than one spot aboard the boat, so Lurmarz sent Osa'Kal ahead, hoping to save enough to meet her in Dawnstar within the year.

On the voyage to the city, though, Osa'Kal met another of the group - a powerful mage. Osa'Kal attempted to fight him, only to be caught in a spell that somehow backfired. While it was supposed to teleport her to a secret location where more of the mysterious group was waiting to subdue her, it instead sent her to a small village located near the middle of Skyrim - Riverwood.

There she has trained and spent her days doing odd jobs, waiting to hear any word from Lurmarz. During one of these routine jobs, clearing out a mine recently taken over by bandits, she found herself pulled into the politics at play within the land.

Though in many ways still a child, Osa'Kal is a warrior at heart, and loves the rush of battle. She feels alive when destroying, but also enjoys the peace of creation, often falling into an almost meditative state during forge-work. Always an odd child, she respects the elderly and loves children, but is unfortunately rather anti-social and tends to say and do the wrong thing.

Brought up with Orc etiquette, she has been taught to believe that running from battle is dishonourable, but also that ones life is precious and not to enter a battle that she is not sure she will win. Often these two ethos collide so she tends to follow her emotions, running into battles before assessing them, just so she won't know the odds against her and have to back out.

Lurmarz
Race: Orc
Gender: Male
Age: 47

Once the Chief of his Stronghold, he was a cold leader and hard to please. Proud of his strength and status, he dabbled in black smithing to further his power. One night he was challenged to a fight for his title and, over-estimating his own power - lost. Ashamed, he stood ready for death, but fear overtook him and he ran instead, an act that forever haunted him as he was cast out from his own race and hunted relentlessly by his kin.

Terrified, he took a ship to Cyrodil, leaving his homelands behind. Hoping to carve a new life for himself in the Imperial homeland, he soon took to light smithing and doing odd jobs for the Warrior Guild.

One day, three years after settling in Cyrodil, he was sent to investigate rumours of bandits around Shardrock. On his return journey, after clearing out a bandit den in a nearby ruin, he came across a burnt-out farm house. Deciding to look for anything salvageable he found a small cellar, miraculously untouched. Inside the cellar was a small nursery with a sleeping babe.

Initially he took the child to one of the local Skingrad women who took in waifs, but soon he found himself thinking about the child's welfare and eventually took the toddler back, deciding to raise her as his own.

Years passed. He was now quite content to be a father to the young child, Osa'Kal, and taught her what he could of her people, though his knowledge was limited only to what he'd gleaned from talking to other Redguards and reading from books. Among the studies of her culture, he also passed on his knowledge of black smithing and battle.

When he deemed her old enough, and strong enough, he allowed her to back him up in some battles to give her more experience, and was there to comfort her when she made her first kill. It was not long after this that they had their first run-in with some Redguards who attempted to kidnap her.

They managed to beat them off and escape, but after a few more run-ins, Lurmarz decided it best for them to leave Cyrodil behind. Rumours of war in the North of Tamriel gave him the idea of heading to Skyrim, where he hoped the political climate would offer a screen to hide them from their pursuers.

They began to save gold, but had to cut their plans short after a particularly dangerous attempt to kidnap Osa'Kal occurred. Lurmarz made the painful decision to send Osa'Kal ahead to Skyrim, in the hopes of giving her time to find a place there where she could be safe.

Unfortunately he is still stuck in Cyrodil, trying to scrape together enough money to afford the journey to Dawnstar.

A now-humbled man, very changed from the proud Chief he once was, Lurmarz is full of odd little pieces of wisdom and observations, sharing them with strangers when he thinks they'll listen. He's very serious about his duty as a father, and is prepared to do anything to protect Osa'Kal.
